What follows are our core theological commitments. These are the beliefs we hold as Christians after having turned to the Bible to determine who is God, what are his purposes, what is the human being’s responsibility to God and God’s purposes, and why humanity is in the state that it is in. This is not everything that could be said, but from these core commitments stems everything else we try to be and do as members of this church
That there is but one, only true God in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, each of them God, and all of them one and the same infinite, eternal God, most wise, holy, just, merciful and blessed for ever.
Concerning the Works of God
That this God is the maker, preserver, and governor of all things according to the counsel of his own will, and that God made human beings in his own image, in knowledge, holiness and righteousness.
Concerning the Fall of Adam
That Adam, the first man, by transgressing the command of God, fell from God and brought himself and his posterity into a state of sin and death, under the wrath and curse of God, which we do believe to be the condition, by nature, of all human beings.
Concerning Jesus Christ
That God sent his Son into the world, who for our sakes became a man, that he might redeem and save us by his obedience unto death, and that he arose from the dead, ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God, from which place he shall come to judge the world.
Concerning the Holy Spirit
That God the Holy Spirit has fully revealed the doctrine of Christ and will of God in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, which are the Word of God, the perfect, perpetual and only rule of our faith and obedience.
Concerning the Benefits We Have by Christ
That the same Spirit, by working faith in God’s elect, applies to them all the benefits of Christ: his justification and sanctification unto salvation, by the means that God has appointed in the Bible. These means, therefore, ought to be observed by us until the coming of Christ.
Concerning the Church of Christ
That all true believers, being united to Christ as the head, make up one Church, which the Bible calls the Body of Christ. The members of the Body have fellowship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit by faith, and with each other in love. Being united to Christ, true believers receive forgiveness of sins here upon earth along with a life filled with God’s grace and on the Last Day, at the resurrection of the body, shall receive everlasting life. Amen
